Our eyes are one of the most important organs in the body, as they give us the ability of sight. However, there are many medical conditions that can compromise our vision, with some resulting in a decreased ability to focus or the loss of vision itself.
Most disorders that affect the eye will likely affect vision in some way, with random floaters or flashes being relatively common. These may present as flashes of light in the corner of the eye, flashes of light in the peripheral vision, or even as flashes of light in both eyes. Floaters are a general term used to describe specks, threads, or cobweb-like images that occasionally drift across the line of vision.
Flashes are strands of light that flicker across the visual field that is usually enhanced by these floaters. Both are considered harmless occurrences but are signs of potential future problems in the eye, especially when they happen suddenly and often.
About one-quarter of people has some vitreous shrinkage, developing floaters by their 60s. This percentage rises to about two-thirds in year-olds. Floaters can also be appreciated in those who have had previous eye surgery, or eye injuries, and in those who have had long-term diabetes. Floaters are generally well tolerated, but some may complain they interfere with reading or overall vision. Migraines and flashes auras often present together. These flashes appear in a similar manner to floaters, looking like flickering lights, but often only on one side of your vision and in a jagged pattern.
It will most likely obscure the vision on one side and usually go away after 10—20 minutes. It could also be followed by a headache. This type of flash may be caused by a migraine, as it can result from a spasm of blood vessels in the brain. When the vitreous fluid in your eye rubs or pulls against the retina, it may present itself as a flash of light or lightning streaks. This sensation can also be experienced if you have been stricken in the eye and see a bright light before regaining vision.
Older individuals may experience flashes on or off for several weeks or months and it may be a complication of a pre-existing disease like diabetes. It is important to see your doctor if you experience sudden episodes of flashes to get a more precise diagnosis. The following are some symptoms that should prompt you to see a medical professional, such as an optometrist:. Photopsia is the symptom of seeing flashes of light and is essentially harmless, but it may be a sign of more serious complications elsewhere in the body that require urgent medical attention.
Rapid eye movement might accompany episodes of flashes as well. Photopsia is usually seen in those of advanced age, as it seldom occurs in young and healthy adults. The following are some conditions that may cause flashes to occur:.Welcome to Spiritual Forums!. I mentioned this briefly in another thread, but since I have been doing more research I decided this topic deserved its own thread :P For a while no I have been seeing very small white flashes of light. It happens anywhere and anytime, at night in pitch dark, during the day in daylight, in the evening, whenever. I should mention though that I only see these flashes when my eyes are open, as I have found that if you see them with your eyes closed it can be linked to an eye problem.
After some investigating I have found that angels make their presence known by using flashes of light, but from what I have found those flashes of light are colored.
The light that I see is not colored, just white. When I see the light I always immediately think, is this a presence? But I never really feel like there is one around, but it's also very quick so maybe I don't have enough time to pick up their energy? I'm wondering if anyone here knows what it is, or who it is.
Meditation & Meaning of Lights
I have been pretty much unknowledgeable about angels until very recently so any help would be appreciated : Oh, also, I have been hearing bells lately which someone on here said was probably an angel. Is it possible that angel is trying to get in contact with me?
If so it's kind of frustrating because I have no idea what they are trying to communicate to me lol.Have you seen flashes of light regularly? Perhaps they appear in the corner of your eye, or even right in front of you! It is a growing phenomenon among the spiritual community, and there are a couple of different explanations.
Seeing Flashes Of Light Spiritual – What Are They?
They all seem to have something to do with spiritual upheaval, rising vibrations and the spirit world. Almost everybody accepts that, just like the spirit orbs that often appear in nature and places of intense energy, these flashes of light represent spirits briefly appearing in our world.
It seems more likely if you experience the flashes wherever you go. If the spirit is following you around, then it is likely they are after rather than just anybody. You might want to try to contact the spirit. It is best to go to a medium for this if you are not well versed, but you can do it yourself if you are confident.
In most cases, when a spirit is trying to contact you personally, it is probably going to be someone you know — perhaps a lost loved one or even a beloved pet. But sometimes you might be asked for help to cleanse the area so that they can move on. Doing so would be excellent karma and great for your aura. There is another explanation for the phenomenon of seeing flashes of spiritual light, and that is more to do with you and your spiritual state than that of the spirit.
When your clairvoyance talents are activated, and you begin your journey towards mastering these skills, your extra-sensory perception is enhanced. If you already have a strong perception, this extra boost can put you on the edge of being able to perceive spirits directly. The flashes of light in this instance are not the spirits flashing in and out of your presence, but your ability to perceive them flashing on and off as you try to master it.
Finding out you have this natural talent can be daunting, especially if its something you have not looked into before. If your flashes of light do not feel like the presence of a spirit accompanies them, it might be a symptom of something else. Spiritual awakening often brings about flashes of light as excess energy flows through your third eye chakra.
Problems in the third eye chakra can also be a cause of this kind of symptom. Related Article. Many people report the experience of seeing lights during meditation practice.
These lights can vary from small, sparkling, comet-like flashes to glowing balls to a transcendent vision of spiritual light some refer to as the "great white light. Buddhist meditation methods sometimes involve visualizing or imagining a holy light, but this is different from actually seeing lights. The purpose of light visualization in Buddhist meditation is to apply mindfulness or focused mental presence to circumstances in which the mind would ordinarily wander, such as when doing the dishes.
Despite the use of such visualization methods, having visions of actual lights is not emphasized or given any particular symbolic importance in Buddhist meditation. Buddhist meditation is focused on impermanence, or the understanding that everything is subject to change. This impermanence would apply to any lights seen in meditation as much as to anything else. Kundalini meditation traditions include the concept of the "great white light," a vision of a heavenly light that enfolds the meditator and imparts some type of spiritual understanding.
Kundalini meditation also can result in seeing other lights, such as sparkling comet shapes, glowing balls or kaleidoscope images. These lights can be interpreted in various ways, such as manifestations of "prana," or spiritual energy, or even as actual spirits.
This depends, of course, on the personal beliefs of the meditator. Meditation instructor Swami Rama has written that many meditators assume they are having profound spiritual experiences when they are merely experiencing hallucinations created by their own subconscious. Swami Rama also has advised that the meditator should never focus on having a specific experience, such as a vision of lights, even though some meditators will spontaneously see lights when they practice.
The important thing to remember is that seeing something like a light is not the purpose of meditation, but merely a side effect that happens to some people. Not seeing lights does not mean that the meditation isn't working. According to Swami Sivananda, another meditation instructor, the lights that sometimes appear during meditation are indications that the "chakras" or spiritual centers in the human body have been activated.
Although Swami Sivananda does interpret the vision of lights as having some degree of spiritual significance, he warns that it does not represent actual enlightenment and should never be used as an excuse to set yourself up as some kind of guru. Swami Sivananda considers the vision of lights during meditation as an indication that some level of progress has been made, and that the meditator should remain focused on the meditation itself while ignoring the lights.

Have your eyes checked out to make sure there is not some issue like a retinal tear. Talk to your spiritual team to ask for their help to be better able to align your energies to be able to hear their messages.
They can help, but we have to ask. Hmm, interesting. I had my eyes checked a few months ago and they didn't see any issues, but I also didn't think to ask them about the white flashes. They come and go in phases so I guess assumed it was some sort of contact.
Most of the time the flashes are tiny so I don't even think twice about it lol Thanks for the info! I agree, have your eyes checked first.
But that said, and yes I've had my eyes checked I see flashes of light too, like camera flashes. Also smaller twinkly lights. I do believe it's my angels and spirit making contact.
Visual Messages From Your Guardian Angel
I found that once I acknowledged the connection, seeing the flashes slowed down somewhat. Now I see them when I am having a particular thought or somesuch I take it as a "blink once for yes, blink twice for no" kinda thing. I, too, see flashes of white light So, now when I see flashes of light, I welcome and acknowledge their presence.

As beings of lightAngels frequently appear as flashes of light, streaks of light in the air, or balls of light zipping past you. They can also appear as large, light energy masses, for example, this is how I see them in churches and at holy sites. They don't have a body and most never have, so they usually aren't bound by shape, which is what makes Angel sightings so versatile.
Angels can appear in front of your eyes, in a dream, or in meditation to deliver messages to you. The color of the light that Angels use to appear is often just white, the color of all energy, or, as some call it, the pure source light of the Divine.

Each color is symbolic of their role in your life and what message your Angel is trying to convey. The color of light a Spirit appears, including an Angel, also may have to do with wavelength. So aside from Angel light colors being symbolic, it could also be scientific, Angels could travel and communicate through different wavelengths.
